The royal family are arguably the most watched family in the world, which of course, poses security threats. Now, a former bodyguard for the royal family has spoken out on what exactly is the biggest threat.

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to leave the royal family in 2020, their security was ‘downgraded’ and they now pay for their own security in the US. Although they’re no longer officially part of the family, the threats don’t disappear.

Former royal bodyguard reveals the biggest threat to The Firm

Speaking on the greatest threat to the royal family, Simon Morgan said the greatest is difficult to pinpoint, in a conversation with LadBible.

“They’re all threats but they all have different connotations attached to them,” he told the publication. “The greatest threat, ultimately, is somebody who wishes to take their life.”

With the threat regarding single-cause issues for the royal family, the former bodyguard stated “people who wish to use the world’s media for an event to highlight their opinion, such as the anti-monarchist movement or Just Stop Oil.”

Morgan said the actions of a demonstrator could be “very similar to the actions of a terrorist carrying an IED in a rucksack.”

Explaining his words, Morgan says they start to run towards the royal carriage, and although they’re only going to ‘unfold a banner,’ at that moment, the bodyguard says in that pivotal moment, you “don’t know what they’re going to do.”

He then says that the pressure on armed police officers to get the decision right “could have severe consequences.”

“It is a constantly changing threat environment, and as the protection officer and as policing as a whole, you’ve got to make sure that you’re up to that response,” he concluded.

King Charles faced ‘assassination attempt’ in 1994

While on a trip to Australia three decades ago, King Charles faced an ‘assassination attempt’ while on stage.

A man named David Kang shot two blanks at the Prince, at the time, with a starting pistol. However, Charles seemed ‘unphased’ by the incident, with many praising him for how he handled the situation, as footage resurfaces on TikTok.

Shortly after the ‘attack’ police ministers said “there was not” an attempted assassination, although Kang was later found guilty of threatening unlawful violence, and was sentenced to 500 hours of community service.
